The beach was quiet and water very clear,just right for swimming.

The various walks around the Island were not too strenuous. Every member of staff was friendly, personable and delivered what can only be described a first class experience with warm smile. There is not a lot to do on the island,most seem to stay for the day or overnight and most seem to enjoy hiking! When we got there we were welcomed by warm smiling faces and were shown to each of our rooms. Where possible we have let the landscape do the talking! We see Clare Island Lighthouse as a ‘great escape’ – a restorative haven, where even the busiest mind is soon stilled by the unhurried island pace.

Considering how Island life is a lot more of a challenge with having to ferry everything over this gem of a place is restored beautifully and the standard certainly lived up to the Blue Book award. Clare Island Lighthouse is a Historic House sited on the most northerly point of Clare Island, County Mayo. This is still a rural sheep raising community, like the Ireland of 100 years ago.
