Onto the headset itself. Sitting down to a Blair Witch session felt like a nightmare come true, with every creak of the forest perfectly pinpointed and swarming spatial audio maintaining fantastic clarity and direction. I have to give Corsair props for such a well-built headset. But it just misses out on its more audiophile target with a slight lack at the low end. That’s really frustrating because in all other aspects the Virtuoso’s comfortable for much longer -- there’s no digging in on or around the ears, and although leatherette earcups tend to get sweaty I had no such issues with these. If you’re looking for a PC-first soundscape to provide all-encompassing audio at crystal clear quality, even better.
The Corsair Virtuoso has great build quality.
I've heard of some stupid things in the past, but, putting RGB on headphones you can't even see, We check over 130 million products every day for the best prices. While the headband itself could do with the same cushioning treatment, sometimes sitting a little too hard on the crown, it’s certainly easy to relax into such an embrace. It’s just the rumbling bass won’t quite lift you off your feet and dump you back down in a bomb crater as it might with either the SteelSeries or Razer headsets. Bath And I love the new look. Corsair’s last few headset releases have offered tantalizing low-cost value gaming headsets to thrifty gamers, (such as the Corsair HS35). Until the Corsair Virtuoso wireless gaming headset the company was better known in audio circles as the brand behind a bunch of affordable, but surprisingly capable headphones.
It’s also quick to charge, thanks to the USB-C connection. A pair of very flash hinges, finished in a combination of matte and polished metal, connect the headband to the earpieces, which can be rotated to lay the headset out flat for travel or storage. There is just the right amount of resistance to its smooth action that it’s not going to catch your shoulder if you put the headset around your neck, and just enough to tell you it’s not just some off-the-peg wheel Corsair’s dropped in there. Perhaps more impressive is the sturdy feel of the Virtuoso headset in the face of such a relatively lightweight build.
Where the HS-series was all about taking on the HyperX Cloud cans, and beating them on price, the Corsair Virtuoso seems to be taking a more high-end, more audiophile-level aesthetic, looking for all the world like a set of Oppo PM3s. The mic mutes by pressing the mute button on the base of the mic. The earcup's luxury encompasses every detail, from the weighting of the scroll wheel to the finishing on the power switch. If you’re looking console-first, however, you might find more PS4-oriented features on a cheaper set.
The adjustment’s pretty much silent -- not even the faintest creak. There are subtle Corsair text logos inlaid onto the bottom of the headband on each side. Still, it’s a wonderful headset for sitting back with and letting Dark Side of the Moon flow over you, on point when tight percussive hits arise and rumbling ominously in the lower synth notes and bass riffs. In those gun-centric environments the rumble of grenades and weapons feels tangible, not just audible, but dialogue isn’t buried beneath the mud as it can so easily be by other headsets. the case is plush and luxurious. One of the best-sounding Corsair headsets, with stunning build quality, and robust wireless technology. Dave has been personally and professionally breaking PC hardware since, oh, before you were born.
This is the most impressively built and finished headset I've seen in a very long time, and would easily look just as at home or in a plane, a train seat, or around your neck in the street as it would in a gaming environment. HyperX Launches High-Capacity Impact DDR4 RAM for Laptops, SFF PCs, Lenovo Unveils Sub-2 Pound ThinkPad X1 Nano Laptop.
On the rear-right of the headset is a power switch and textured metal volume scroll, while the left-hand earcup holds all the inputs: USB-C charging, 3.5mm right at the bottom and a one-way mic input, notched so that you can’t slam it in the wrong way round.

But as the fantastically ostentatious naming of this new Virtuoso headset line suggests, it’s not making any compromises this time. However, it’s not the most comfortable headset I've ever tested. Fans of powerful bass would prefer the monstrous low-end response from the Audio-Technica’s ATH-G1, while those of a flatter disposition would pick out Steelseries’ Pro Wireless for its brilliant articulation. Admittedly you’re unlikely to regularly roam 60ft from your PC while gaming, but it’s testament to the Corsair wireless tech that you go that far before it cuts out. Creating custom profiles with EQ adjustments suited to music, TV, and specific game genres feels simple and offers a range of tweaks to enhance your audio no matter how you use your cans. It’s very simple with aluminum joints, sturdy size extensions that are numbered, and there isn’t even Corsair text on the headband like we usually see. From the plush, padded headband and earcups to the robust, brushed metal frame, there’s a distinctly premium level of build quality on show.
Thank you for signing up to GamesRadar+. Visit our corporate site. It’s a beautifully crafted headset, and one which pushes Corsair’s standard gaming audio further than ever. I know I’ve alluded to it before, but the Virtuoso really is beautifully built.
If you were to just listen to it in isolation, you would enjoy the clarity with which you can pick out speech, the whistle of bullets flying past your ears, the screams of “Medic!” from the dying on Wake Island in BF5.
It’s a fantastic looking headset, sounds powerful in gaming environments and lives up to its 20-hour battery life. Get instant access to breaking news, in-depth reviews and helpful tips.

It’s almost as though it’s visiting from the audiophile market to remind gamers how high the ceiling goes when it comes to headphones. The Virtuoso is very much in the highest echelon of gaming headsets, but by striking a middle ground between the two aforementioned extremes, it doesn’t surpass either of those headsets. Those higher frequencies are impressive, however. You will receive a verification email shortly. I do have some reservations in regards to that headband being perhaps a touch to tight after an hour’s use, but that aside, there are just so many good reasons to make this your go-to headset, regardless of cost, it’s hard not to recommend it. The Corsair Virtuoso Wireless SE is an expensive gaming headset with a wonderful mic, decent audio, good battery life, and a comfortable sturdy build. I wish corsair would offer a standalone driver for their headsets. Overall, the experience with a PS4 controller in hand fell slightly short of that of PC. The SE variant is finished in a combination of gunmetal-tinged aluminum, matte rubberized plastic around the outer edge of each earcup and immaculately stitched leatherette covering the padded headband and contact pads.
What you see is what you get, a sleek gaming headset that focuses on delivering a premium experience with solid performance.
Corsair’s jammed a decent battery inside its stylish Virtuoso headset too, allowing for up to twenty hours of gaming on a single charge.
In the end it just leaves the Corsair Virtuoso sounding a little lacking, but purely only in comparison to a pair of generally more expensive wireless gaming headsets.
The headset itself comes with -- don’t laugh -- the best travel case I've ever seen for a gaming headset, along with a premium braided USB-C charge cable, a 3.5mm adapter cable, the wireless receiver dongle and the detachable mic. Both the headband and ear cups are padded with a nice feeling faux-leather that gives them an all-around premium look and feel.
With a full range from 20Hz to 40,000Hz on offer, you’re unlikely to find another gaming headset with such focus on this detailing. Competing with the best gaming headsets, this is resolutely a high-end offering, with a maximalist spec sheet and a beautiful aesthetic that seems disconnected from the adolescent stylings of most gaming peripherals. Unboxing the Virtuoso is a master class in excitement building: Bosed very nicely in tasteful black, the headphones are gorgeous, solid and a wonder to behold. Well, unless you live somewhere rather more palatial than I. The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE gaming headphones are out to make a statement, and they’ve performed exceedingly well.
It’s priced higher, then, than the recent HS35 and HS70 headsets, but considering what’s on offer here it still seems very reasonable. iCue is garbage.

Corsair Virtuoso review: a headset with sophisticated audio and the looks to match Fantastic, full sound with strong spatial audio detailing and an aesthetic to sit proudly on any PC desk.
There was a problem. With the boost enabled you do get more thumping ‘splodes in-game but the audio becomes more muddied. Seriously, there’s a magnetic clasp on that travel case and everything. Slot the wireless USB dongle into your PS4 or PC, toggle the headset into wireless mode and you’re good to go.
That said, it’s still ample for gaming on consoles when your dongle sits under the TV at the other side of the room.
