I didn't understand why it was a four star rating but I see all but one of the low ratings doesn't have to do with the story itself but the quality of the film or another issue. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness. They went through the motions and said their lines, but (IMHO) just couldn't sell it. The term “god”, Norse góð, from proto-Nordic *guda, means simply “good”, but the original meaning of the term is “what you conjure” or “what you with spells/sorcery control”. Grant, as always does a fantastic job!

They don't get any better than that. This movie combines suspense, a witty dialogue, a chic wardrove and two of the most likable movie stars of all time. In fact, I read once that they tried to get Hepburn to play opposite him in “Father Goose” (another good Grant movie), but she wasn’t available. This movie is shot 1.85 to 1 and amazon is providing it at around 1.2 to 1 if that. So the Tradition is not just a Tradition, but a Tradition divided into different levels of understanding; the exoteric and the esoteric. I truly enjoyed this classic!

But this is a charade. It seems to me that the likely assumption would be that Charles’ murderer made off with the money, but of course then there’d be no movie.
